Film Production Roles

Grips
-Grips' responsibility is to build and maintain all the equipment that supports cameras.
-Grips work with specialized companies to provide the materials need to create the equipment.
 During shooting days, Grips arrive with their team early to set up the equipment to make sure everything is ready for a days worth of filming
- Grips work in the Pre-Productions process.

Animator

-The animator works during the Production stages. An Animator job is turning images to make them come to life on screen. An Animator is generally specialized in 2D drawn animation, 2D computer animation, stop frame or stop motion animation and 3D computer generated (CG) animation.
 -
An Animator works with their fellow animator or by themselves. They work directly under the director. A animator works during the post production.

Distributor
-A Distributor's job is to organise the distribution of the finished movie to exhibitors, as well as the sale of the product.
-A Distributor works during the post production.
Lighting Design
-A lighting designer works with the producers, directors, set designers, and other essential crew members to create a certain "look" that links with the text.
-A lighting designer works at during the pre-production stages.

Stunt Driver
-A stunt driver is a person who is specialist in car stunts.
-A stunt driver works during the production stages. They work with the filming crew.

Just a Jaw

1.Where did the Idea of jaws originate?
Off a novel called Jaws Written by Peter Benchley. Steven Spielberg Was interested about Jaws because it resembled allot about his recent movie "Duals".

2.Why were particular scenes removed from the film?
Particular scenes were removed because the scenes were to violent and gory for Spielberg taste and did not fit in the image Spielberg wanted.

3.During the pre-production stage what sort of footage did the producers commission in preparation for the film? How was the script changed as a result of this footage?
Real life footage on a shark attacking a cage. They changed the script because during a process of filming a shark attacking the cage the shark got caught on the rope holding the cage and got caught and went berserk.

4.Who was involved during the casting process.

Richard Dreyfuss - Matt Hooper

5.What is location scouting? Why did Spielberg choose these location?
Location scouting is where directors find a place to film.
Spielberg chose this location because it allowed him to film them in the ocean where you can see no land while acctually being close to shore.

6.Describe how actors contributed to the productions of Jaws?
The actors contributed to the productions of Jaws by adding there ideas and extra lines such as "We're gonna need a bigger boat".

7. What does the composer do ? What considerations were taken into?
A composer is someone who writes musical pieces for TV , Film and other places where music is needed.
The consideration were taken into when writing the musical for Jaws was a lower key and higher key note make the Tension music scenes.

8.What did Spielberg do as a result of test screenings?
Steven Spielberg's first screening was at Dallas shopping centre. He came to witness the audiences reactions to his movie Jaw , he was nervous.

9. What is a director of photography? How was the director of photography involved in the production of Jaws?
A Director of Photography (D.O.P for short) is a person who manages the filming of the movie. Bill Butler made the equipments for Jaws. He filmed with a hand held camera and Spielberg was shock  he heard about it has he didn't want a handled pictured but saw a demonstration and it worked great.

10. What does an editor do? Who was the editor on Jaws and what was her responsibility?
A editor is someone who puts the film together. The editor for jaws was Verna Field and her job was to cut out parts and put in parts of the film, to create a better result.

11. Based on the documentary, what are the responsibilities of a producer?
The responsibility of the editor was to correct any error in the script, He helped Spielberg finish making the movie.

12. What does the producer do once principal photography has finished?
When the film is finished, the producers job is to distribute the movie.

13. What did the production designer do on the film?
 what the Production Designers does is make a overall look for the movie.
